Some changes in their behavior could include things like poor school work, lack of interest in activities or friends, or even a change in their appetite. These things are a few of the tattle tell signs of depression. But there are others such as running away from home and not being able to concentrate or make decisions. Maybe your teen is one that always wants to dress and look their best, but has suddenly stopped caring about their appearance. This is another sign when they neglect the way they look. Some teens might be using alcohol or drugs to alleviate their depression. But this method will only make it worse.

If you hear your teen talking about death or suicide, don’t take it lightly. Talk to them and get them some help for their depression. A depressed teen is tired all the time; and they may even complain a lot about stomachaches or headaches. Depressed teens are always sad or irritable. They feel guilty for no reason, and they feel like there is no hope for the future. They have a low or no self-esteem; you will see them crying a lot. A depressed teen will easily get bored or restless. A depressed teen needs help.
